Quatrefoil Library Is Moving to Minneapolis Fall of 2013
December 11, 2012 – The Quatrefoil Library, one of the oldest GLBT lending libraries in the country, has entered into an agreement with Spirit on Lake to move the library from its current space in St. Paul Minnesota to a new location at 13th Ave. and east Lake Street in Minneapolis Minnesota.
In early 2012, the Quatrefoil Library Board of Directors voted to enter into formal negotiations with Spirit on Lake to become a tenant on the street level of a new building which will provide independent and affordable living for the GLBT community. A formal lease was signed in early December 2012.
The Quatrefoil Library has outgrown its current space and the new location will be approximately 2,700 square feet, which will double the size of the library. As with its current location, visitors and volunteers will have access to off-street parking at the new location. The library also hopes to add additional hours of operation with expanded programming and services with the new location.
With the new location Quatrefoil Library remains committed to its mission, which is to collect, maintain, document and circulate gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer materials and information in a safe and accessible space, in order to promote understanding, an appreciation of diversity and history, and the value of communities.
Quatrefoil Library will also launch a new campaign, which will focus on raising money to help with space improvements and moving expenses.
The library will vacate its home for the last 20 plus years, Richards Gordon Office Building in St. Paul, and hopes to be in its new location in Fall of 2013.
