An Evening with Dick Hewetson

Dick Hewetson, co-founder of Quatrefoil Library, will be the keynote speaker in a series at the Quatrefoil Library called “An Evening With…”.

 

Hewetson, along with his former partner, the late David Irwin, co-founded Quatrefoil Library more than 30 years ago. Dick will share stories from his life, including opening one of the first LGBT lending libraries in the country.

 

In 1983, Dick and David Irwin incorporated Quatrefoil Library and it officially opened to the public in February 1986 in the Minnesota Civil Liberties Union building in Minneapolis. The library then moved to a larger space in St. Paul in 1987.

 

Dick Hewetson is the author of two books, I Can’t Remember My Childhood & I’ve Always Been Old and History of the Gay Movement in Minnesota and the Role of the Minnesota Civil Liberties Union, both titles are available at Quatrefoil.

 

Hewetson lives San Francisco, California. He is an honorary member of Minnesota Atheists and a Life Member and a National Board Member of the Freedom from Religion Foundation.
